Dr. Sandeep Chatterjee
Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Shuv Gray LLC, USA;

Date & Time: July 27, 2015 (05:40pm - estimated duration: about 2+ hours)
Location: Platinum Room

DESCRIPTION

    The next stage in the evolution of enterprise and consumer applications is based on mobile apps, software as a service (SaaS) and web services. Standard PC apps and websites are no longer sufficient. Tomorrow’s enterprise and consumer apps must be available on and accessible from any device (e.g., mobile phones, tablets, desktops, etc.), have a rich user interface and be easy to use, and provide appropriate security mechanisms.

    Although there are many tools and technologies available to develop these systems, there are nonetheless many challenges in developing and implementing such practical real-world systems.

    Web services are pieces of application functionality that are exported through a set of standard application programming interfaces (APIs), and allow applications to be constructed by locating and binding to the exported functionality. More interestingly, multiple web services can be coordinated together in unique combinations using applications to implement value-added services for both consumer and enterprise users. These applications can be software as a service (SaaS) applications, mobile apps or other types of applications and systems.

    In this tutorial, we describe the best practices in the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of consumer and enterprise applications based on web services. We touch on mobile apps and software as a service (SaaS) applications and systems, and the unique issues inherent to these environments.

OBJECTIVES

The primary objective of this tutorial is to give attendees a practical exposure to developing real-world mobile applications and systems using web services and associated technologies.

INTENDED AUDIENCE

If you can read this text, it means you are not experiencing the Plone design at its best. Plone makes heavy use of CSS, which means it is accessible to any internet browser, but the design needs a standards-compliant browser to look like we intended it. Just so you know ;)
